History Of OBI & Gap Frame Presses
Stamping presses of this type are in use in stamping facilities all over the world today. Presses resembling today’s OBI and gap frame presses can be seen in industrial history books depicting manufacturing in the 1800s. The earliest manufacturers of these types of presses are the same ones that are prevalent today, with brand names like Minster, Bliss, and Niagara. Today, there are numerous brands on the market, both foreign and domestic. Aida, Komatsu, Seyi and Stamtec are popular brands today in addition to much older brands mentioned above.
Where OBI & Gap Frame Presses Are Used
OBI and gap frame stamping presses are in use today in metal stamping facilities of all sizes. It is not uncommon to see either OBI or gap-framed presses in small machine shops. Most often, they are seen in use in larger manufacturing plants running several presses simultaneously. Both OBI and gap frame presses are often used in stamping out automotive and appliance parts as well as construction fasteners and small military hardware.
